Under The Influence

Eph.5:18 says, "Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation (immoral or improper pleasure); but be filled with the Spirit."

We would call someone who is drunk, "under the influence". We all know the effects that alcohol can have on a person - ex. loss of control, slow reaction time, loss of inhibitions, poor decisions, and simply doing things they wouldn't ordinarily do.   

Well, God doesn't want us to be controlled or influenced by alcohol, but He does want us to be controlled and influence by His Holy Spirit.  And when we are influenced by His Spirit, we do things we wouldn't ordinarily do.
